I’ve long had a shameless interest in death and phenomena surrounding it. My family and friends know to send me photos of roadkill they see, it’s just kind of my thing. I have scores of pictures I’ve snapped on the side of the road of chipmunks, squirrels, deer, skunks, raccoons, possums, shrews, snakes, turtles, and so on.
Recently, I decided to try my hand at taxidermy, something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I found a perfectly intact shrew, rigor mortis setting in, floating in my pool the other day, and he is now nicely stuffed on my bookcase. I’ll spare the details to avoid being perhaps identified by “concerning behaviors” or interest in the matter.
A small sample of the specimens I’ve collected digitally.
